The Seoul Welfare Survey has been conducted every two years since 2013. The purpose of this survey is to identify changes in welfare status and needs of Seoul residents and to provide basic data for welfare policy design and performance monitoring. The survey is conducted among 3,000 households living in Seoul

about their living conditions, use of welfare services and welfare awareness and needs. It has been 10 years since the first Seoul Welfare Survey. Considering recent changes of welfare environment and Seoul's welfare policies, we restructured questions to perform the survey.

The survey was conducted from August 2022 to October 2022. A total of 3,019 households completed the survey. The 2022 survey analysed living conditions, residence status, economic activities, income, expenditures, assets and liabilities, housing conditions, health and medical care utilization, dietary life and social relations and activities of Seoul residents. We analysed the use of welfare services by sector, including income security, child care, adult care, youth welfare, middle-aged and elderly welfare and single-person households. We also analysed living standards, welfare policy and welfare awareness and desires. The Seoul Welfare Survey is important for periodically identifying the overall welfare status of Seoul residents. However, problems such as underrepresentation of certain groups and limitations in the accuracy of low-income households in the income survey were identified.
